Its All in Your Head
Have you ever not given 100% and felt ok with it? If we are honest, the answer is a huge yes. A better question is why? I have done some checking and have come up with some reasons why this may be happening to you. It is simple “its all in your head”, literally our brain is a co-dependent in this addiction of “feeling good” about things that are less than 100% effort. The mind protects us from pain by making reality whatever it is that it wants. So back to the less than 100%. If we give say 90% and “lose”, (I am relating this to new home sales) not give the effort that we should/could have, the brain has a way of making it ok because we were really were not playing to win anyway. We never “failed” because we did not try to win. Now feeling good about not trying to win is an addiction that is fed by our brain sending us all those feel good signals? So we start the cycle all over again. This is another reason change can be difficult. It is however the way that we can trick ourselves to change. Self talk is the answer. Before you put forth your effort tell yourself, nothing less than (fill in the blank)_will be considered success. Now the brain, wanting to make us feel good has an obligation to make this the new reality. Falling short of our pre-determined goal will be painful and not something our brain will want to happen. So get into your own head and make 90% more painful than 100%.
